I am interested in physical limits, particularly in how much something can take before it breaks. The work elevates a moment where potential energy appears to pause in the instant before it transitions into something else. These simple sculptures can be seen as one-liners that question or defy my understanding of functions and physical laws in a kind of sinister or sarcastic response.
In seeking to tangle the ways in which things work, I construct controlled set-ups that are seemingly doomed to fail. Their existence and survival is dependent on the absurd situations that I make for them while quietly provoking a sense of imminent demise.
